Are animals maimed/harmed in making MAC make-up/cosmetic brushes?

I just bought make-up brushes from MAC, and I got the white ones that are made of goat hair (I think). They are quite expensive, but are of really good quality. I didn't think about whether they were cruelty-free or not when I got them, but now I wanna know, because if they are then I won't buy any more of their brushes in the future.

I had a look at several sites after googling mac make up brushes and it seems that they do use animal hair for the, one of the main ones that kept coming up was squirrel hair.
