are my things cruelty free?
if my products (shampoo, body wash, face soap, etc.) don't say that they wern't tested on animals, should i assume that they are?
Yes! You should assume that they were tested on animals, and even made with animal (or animal by-products). It is a big deal to be cruelty free, so the company will have the Cruelty Free Logo on their product for you to see.
Now the products have to be tested before they can go on the market (they have to prove that these products will not harm the public). Animal testing is the cheapest and most fastest way to get the product to market, so most cheap products will go that way. Now the other way is to test in a laboratory with cell cultures that does cost the company some money and it is added into the price of the product, so the more expensive products will be the cruelty free ones. Another aspect to take into account is that the testing in the laboratory with the cultures is more intense and often more reliable than the ones tested only on animals (those cheap products usually have more recall on their products after many people step forward to complain about skin conditions or even health reasons).
